Who I am and my experience
Hi, I'm Susane. I'm a product designer and strategist based in Calgary.
Outside of specifically UX/UI, I’ve worked with local non-profits like ARK and WINS where I led teams to improve their digital effectiveness through website redesigns, operational restructuring, and marketing. I've also freelanced with small businesses to help translate their vision into a brand identities and I also have experience in restaurant service design to improve interior aesthetics to better suit the target customer base.
Understanding how I think
My UX/UI design philosophy focuses on two core principles:
Know the user before anything else
Know how to ask the right questions
I invest the most time into research because I believe the best experiences are built from deep user validation. Also a part of that process is knowing how to ask effective, multifaceted questions that dig into the root cause. My goal in any project is to understand the user’s behaviours so thoroughly that meeting their expectations is practically second nature.
Getting to know me outside of work
Outside of work, I typically use digital art, writing, and music as creative outlets.
I'm also a big fan of JRPGs because of their immersive storytelling and experimental art directions. Recently, I've challenged myself to dive into video game UX/UI as a side project which has been a new experience as it forces me to think differently to what I'm used to.
